| -> HIPAA Compliance |
Every time a patient visits a health care provider, they entrust the doctors and administrative staff with personal information. Because of the sensitivity of medical records, the health care provider has a responsibility to the patient to ensure that their records, known as Protected Health Information (PHI), are not accessible to unauthorized parties.
HIPAA, or the Health Information Protection and Administration Act, was passed to safeguard Protected Health Information. Every health care provider that handles PHI is mandated to be HIPAA compliant. HIPAA compliance includes planning and documenting security measures taken to protect PHI. In order to become HIPAA compliant, a health care practice must have a documented disaster recovery plan, access restrictions on patient records, and system audit ability.
If you have a medical practice with less than five doctors, Desktronix can help you become HIPAA compliant. Contact Desktronix for more details.
